Witchford overcame a good Newmarket B side in a return to the league programme..
The first 20 minutes were end to end with both side looking for a breakthrough before Witchford found the net after some great passing play in the midfield, a superb cross from James Edwards found the head of James Forber who nodded in a looping header. Witchford took control of the game and 10 minutes later James Forber got on the end of a good pass from the midfield before smashing the ball home. Witchford took control in excellent style when Roly received a high ball, flicked the ball over a defenders head and drilled it into the near post.
Newmarket came back into the game after the break and within ten minutes they brought it back to 3-1 with a low shot from the edge of the area. Newmarket kept threatening but Witchford’s defence held out well. However the 3 goal lead was soon restored after Will’s header was punced away by the Newmarket keeper and Tom Matcham was at hand to nod home from a few yards out. More good passing play followed but Witchford couldn’t find the net again as Newmarket came but into it but the defence again held strong as Witchford saw out the win.
